This past Easter Weekend was an interesting one for conventions. Anaheim, California hosted WonderCon, New York City hosted a martial arts movie festival, and Washington, D.C. hosted the 2nd Awesome Con. Some people believe that Easter Weekend is not the best time to hold a convention. Some may think otherwise. But, it all depends on how you look at it.

My little brother and myself were there last Saturday, and we were both greeted by a VERY LONG LINE that wrapped around The Walter E. Washington Convention Center. It reminded me of the line at Katsucon 18 two years ago. According to reports, it took longer for those who pre-registered, than for those who were only there for one day! It was one of the big complaints of the event. The promoters have tallied the attendance at 40,000.

Here are a few standout cosplays:

The Pope and his Cardinals

Jesus. This wonderful gentleman named Anderson Marchack travels to conventions cosplaying as Jesus Christ spreading the message of good deeds and tolerance. To find him on Facebook, type in Cosplay Jesus.

Rainbow Brite

Booster Gold

One highlight was the return of Ernie Hudson to the convention. He recognized me from last year, and I gave him my condolences for his friend and Ghostbusters castmate Harold Ramis who passed away in February. And here are photos from what I felt were beautiful tributes to Harold’s life, memory and career.

The Ecto 1A from Ghostbusters II

Other celebrities that were there were Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Andromeda), Erin Gray (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Silver Spoons), Billie Piper (Doctor Who, Secrets of a Call Girl), Cary Elwes (Glory, The Crush, Robin Hood: Men In Tights) and the duo of David Yost and Walter Emmanuel Jones (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). I tried to meet them, but the lines were long, especially for David and Walter. Maybe I will see them again. I did attend the Pro-Wrestling Today Panel which was fun, in wich I was instantly recognized by the moderator Joe Carabeo, and panelists Ben Taylor and Dan Nokes. They also had DC101 FM’s Mike Jones as a guest panelist!!!. They had video game room that I forgot to visit, but my little brother told me that I didn’t miss much (YIKES!!!!!). Here’s another standout photo:

From what I can tell, Catwoman joined the Justice League!!!!

This was a grand three days, and I’m ready for NEXT YEAR!!!! Here are more photos, ENJOY!!!!

TNA  President  Dixie  Carter  called  out  Bully  Ray  for  double  crossing  her  at  Lockdown  last  month.  Bully  labeled  her  the  most  selfish  person  he  had  ever  met,  and  that  TNA  belongs  to  everyone.  Dixie  told  him  “I  am  still  your  boss”  and  slapped  him!!!  When  it  looked  like  Bully  was  about  to  fight  Dixie,  Bobby  Roode  assaulted  him  from  behind.  Roode  pulled  out  a  table,  and  Bully  almost  powerbombed  him  through  the  table.

3.  TNA  WORLD  TAG  TEAM  CHAMPIONSHIPS:  The  Bro  Mans  (DJ  Z  and  Jesse  Godderz/Champions)   vs.  The  American  Wolves  (Eddie  Edwards  and  Davey  Richards/Challengers/Former  Champions).

TNA  Ring  Announcer  Christy  Hemme  called  out  Samuel  Shaw  to  talk  about  their  relationship.  Christy  labeled  him  misunderstood,  and  he  agreed.  She  asked  him  if  he  trusted  her,  and  told  him  to  close  his  eyes  for  a  surprise…………MR.  ANDERSON!!!  Anderson  told  him  that  his  commitment  is  to  a  mental  institution.  Anderson  threw  him  in  the  van,  but  Shaw  escaped.

Before  the  start  of  the  match,  Kenny  King  bragged  about  how  the  X  Division  isn’t  the  same  without  him,  much  to  the  disgust  of  MVP.  Kenny  wouldn’t  leave  until  his  demand  for  an  Exhibition  Match  was  met.  MVP  granted  him  his  wish.

TNA  World  Heavyweight  Champion  Magnus  told  “The  Monster”  Abyss  that  even  though  they’re  both  in  the  main  event,  they  will  work  together.  He  then  told  him  that  he  loves  him  and  hugged  him.  Eric  Young  assaulted  them  both,  and  they  retaliated  until  he  was  rescued  by  Samoa  Joe.

From  The  Impact  Zone  at  Universal  Studios  Orlando  in  Orlando,  Florida:

Hosted  by  “The  Professor”  Mike  Tenay  and  Taz.

MVP  announced  that  he  wants  an  even  playing  field  based  on  ability  and  not  shady  alliances  and  backstabbing.  TNA  World  Heavyweight  Champion  Magnus  thought  otherwise  as  he  announced  that  “The  Monster”  Abyss  is  under  his  control.  MVP  understood,  as  long  as  Abyss  is  in  the  ring  with  Magnus.  Magnus  agreed  as  MVP  informed  him  that  he  will  harm  him  if  he  is  assaulted  ever  again.  MVP  asked  Abyss  if  he  wants  a  shot  at  the  TNA  World  title,  Magnus  disagreed,  but  MVP  booked  the  both  of  them  and  Samoa  Joe  in  a  Three-Way  Match!!!

Joe  arrived  and  stated  that  he  asked  for  a  fair  shot,   and  a  fight  ensued.  Magnus  and  Abyss  assaulted  Joe  as  MVP  tried  to  stop  it,  but  Eric  Young  made  the  save.  Eric  explained  that  it’s  his  fault  for  Abyss,  and  told  him  to  put   him  in  the  match  to  make  things  right.  MVP  told  him  that  he  respects  him,  but  hasn’t  earned  it  yet.  Eric  stated  he  is  following  the  phrase  “Motivate,  Validate  and  Participate”.

Joe  stated  that  no  one  doubts  him,  and  MVP  added  him  to  the  match.  Joe  got  in  Eric’s  face,  and  they  both  fought  until  MVP  booked  the  both  of  them  in  a  match!!!

1.  TAG  TEAM  MATCH:  The  American  Wolves  (Eddie  Edwards  and  Davey  Richards)  vs.  TNA  World  Heavyweight  Champion  Magnus  and  “The  Monster”  Abyss.

Angelina  Love  demanded  an  explanation  from  Velvet  Sky  on  why  she  was  ignoring  her.  Velvet  stated  that  it  was  Angelina’s  assault  on  TNA   Knockouts  Champion  Madison  Rayne.  Angelina  criticized  Velvet  for  losing  her  edge  and  told  her  to  choose  a  side.

Bully  Ray  came  out  with  many  tables  asking  the  fans  how  many  of  them  should  Bobby  Roode  go   through.  He  voiced  his  happiness  on  Roode  not  being  in  charge,  but  it  went  south  as  Roode  appeared.  Roode  ranted  about  those  he  screwed  over,  but  Bully  didn’t  want  to  hear  it.  In  the  end,  Bully  went  through  a  table.

Mike  Knox  continued  his  visit  through  his  hometown  as  a  girl  in  booty  shorts  explained  how  she  lost  her  moneymaker.  And,  she  told  him  to  straighten  things  out  with  his  dad.

NOTE:  It’s  ironic  how  when  she  said  moneymaker,  the  camera went  straight  to  her  butt.

2.  A  NON-TITLE  KNOCKOUTS  MATCH:  The  Returning  Angelina  Love  vs.  TNA  Knockouts  Champion  Madison  Rayne.
