If you were a teenager in Canada in the 1990s, your after school routine probably looked something like mine – arrive home from school, grab a snack, and turn the TV on to MuchMusic.  You may have even put a blank tape into your VCR to record your favourite videos as they came on (or was that just me?)

MuchMusic’s slogan was “the nation’s music station,” and for those who grew up in MuchMusic’s heyday, it was that and so much more.  It was Big Shiny Tunes and Dance Mix CDs. It was Video Dance Parties at high school dances.  It was highly anticipated events such as the Video Music Awards that everyone watched and discussed the next day.  And if you were a teenager from a small town visiting Toronto, the coolest thing you could do was visit the MuchMusic building.
