Here’s Impact in case you missed it:
From The Legendary Von Braun Center/Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, Alabama:
Hosted by “The Professor” Mike Tenay and Taz.
TNA dedicated this week’s broadcast to the life and memory of WWE Hall of Famer/Pro-Wrestling Legend Mae Young who passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2014 at the age of 90.
How Genesis 2014 Began: Rockstar Spud insulted all of Huntsville while TNA President Dixie Carter expressed her happiness from “The Phenomenal” A.J. Styles not being TNA World Heavyweight Champion. The reigning champion Magnus declared that “The Reign of Magnus” had begun. He gave Dixie the belt that A.J. had, and declared that she’s the reason for TNA’s success. After that, TNA World Tag Team Champions The Bro Mans (Robbie E and Jesse Godderz), Zema Ion, Bobby Roode, Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels and Kazarian), TNA Knockouts Champion Gail Kim and Lei’D Tapa joined her, Spud and Magnus as she praised them for last week. She declared that it will be the start of a new era in TNA when her nephew Ethan Carter III will defeat TNA Hall of Famer “The Icon” Sting.
Ethan joined them, and as he was about to speak Sting appeared in the crowd!!! Sting was fed up with Dixie’s mob boss attitude, and labeled Magnus a “paper champion”. Sting was disgusted from the fact that everything that he and Kurt Angle taught Magnus was discarded. Within minutes, “Cowboy” James Storm, Samoa Joe, Gunner, Joseph Park, Eric Young and ODB appeared as Sting waged war, and the assault began…..
1. 12-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH: Gunner, “Cowboy” James Storm, Samoa Joe, Eric Young, Joseph Park and ODB vs. The Bro Mans, Bobby Roode, Bad Influence and Lei’D Tapa.
THE WINNERS: GUNNER, “COWBOY” JAMES STORM, SAMOA JOE, ERIC YOUNG, JOSEPH PARK AND ODB!!!
TNA X Division Champion Chris Sabin declared his girlfriend Velvet Sky selfish, and wanted to know why she was hanging around Austin Aries. Aries had a title for Sabin: The Worst Boyfriend That Ever Lived. He stated that she doesn’t need to put up with Sabin, because she’s being used as a pawn. Aries then issued a challenge for the title next week, to see if Sabin can win without Velvet. Aries had an idea: Velvet inside a cage.
Sabin rejected the idea, Velvet didn’t, and she had her own idea: if Sabin loses, she will breakup with him!!!
2. A NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH: Bully Ray vs. Mr. Anderson.
THE WINNER: BULLY RAY.
Kurt Angle was enraged with Dixie creating a phony emergency involving his family last week. Dixie stated that she did it to protect him, but he knew about her war against A.J. She also stated that she did it because it was best for him. Kurt decided to be near Sting’s side during his match against ECIII, but Dixie postponed his Steel Cage Match between him and Bobby Roode until next week. Kurt had enough, and Dixie ordered security to remove him from the arena, when he was attacked by Roode.
INTERVIEW: Madison Rayne.
Jeremy Borash wanted Madison’s thoughts on her upcoming championship match against Gail Kim, when Lei’D Tapa got in her face. She was then assaulted from behind by Gail.
3. TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP: Gail Kim (Champion) with Lei’D Tapa vs. Madison Rayne (Challenger/Former Champion).
THE WINNER, AND ONCE AGAIN, TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION: MADISON RAYNE!!!
INTERVIEW: TNA Hall of Famer “The Icon” Sting.
Before Jeremy Borash could open up the interview, Sting vowed no consequences during his match against ECIII.
4. THE MAIN EVENT: Ethan Carter III vs. TNA Hall of Famer “The Icon” Sting.
THE SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE FOR THIS MATCH: Rockstar Spud.
THE WINNER: THE STILL UNDEFEATED ETHAN CARTER III.
During the match, Magnus pulled Spud out of the ring and did a really quick three-count (which looked more like a two-count). After that, Sting demanded a fight against Magnus, but for the World title!!! Magnus announced that Dixie is renegotiating Sting’s contract, and told Sting that if he loses, he will destroy it. Sting accepted.
Match #2 is the highlight match of the night!!!
Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson are the wrestlers of the night!!!
Madison Rayne winning back the Knockouts Championship was the highlight of the night!!!
ANALYSIS: Better than last week!!!
